Finally! I went for the steamboat at Marina today, with Carol, Viv, and Michael. Had a great great time. Wat can i say. I JUZ Lurve Steamboats. It may seems inapporiate in this humid hot Singapore. But, the fun of a big group of friends crowdin around the food really perks the mood up. We spent like 2.5 hours there, with those eatin, playin, gossipin, and snappin shots with our poses. Not forgettin how we go abt doin our Xi-Nu-Ai-Le faces! Will upload the photos soon.
Was at the newly renovated Chomp Chomp with vivian and michael yesterdae [yes, again! Food is always on our mind!] Got to witness this stupid argument between two family over a table! Wana know the detail, refer to (here). I'm so lazy to type the whole scene out. Anyway, I was readin the LifeStyle! when i came across this particular article by "Sumiko Tan", it really touched my heart, made me so guilty about myself, and being a typical Singaporean.
Here's how it goes:
"When will i learn to see foreign workers as an individuals who have families and loved ones who cannot wait for them to return home. Which parents to see a daugther or a son leave home to work in a strange land thousand of miles away."
She had some examples; like the recent Nicoll Highway tragedy of how the China man construction worker die juz 10 days into his new job; the feelings of domestic workers leavin their country to work as a maid for us; and the use of low wages contruction workers. It did strike me. Have i considered my previous maids as a part of the family, or i juz spent my days livin like a royalty around the house? Have i really appreciated those foreign construction workers, or i juz condemn them juz because they are juz lowly paid "outsiders". Many times, i would qualify for the latter, i've been so full of myself tat i failed to notice the world is actually NOT JUST spinnin around me, and only those who i care for.
"They may not seems qualified foreign talents our country wants, but Singapore may not run as smoothly without them." Quoted: Sumiko Tan, LifeStyle! 2 May 2004.
